Power the growth.

The recent break-through by Rice University researchers in nano-tube development can be path breaking in the portable rechargeable battery segment. Before we discuss it, it is better if we go through batteries and their effectiveness in the perspective of the invention.

Batteries in the rechargeable segment come in three types. The Lead-Acid, Nickel- Cadmium and Lithium ion. All these three have something common. They store electrical energy in chemical form and this when required is taken for use. This is not like a capacitor where the energy is momentarily stored and the discharge rate can’t be brought to a minimal value to use it effectively. A capacitor is more suitable for instantaneous discharge whereas the battery works till there is enough chemical compound to continue the reaction and generate electricity. In all of them the process is reversible so that when electric current is supplied to the batteries they chemicals return to their original state and are ready for further electricity generation. The strength and ability of the batteries depend on the surface area of the electrodes and so most of the batteries have sheets rather than rods to do this.

In this situation the break through is important because this increases the surface by so many multiples that strength of the battery is increased infinite times. How? Rechargeable batteries work on the material present in the electrodes and more surface area present will increase the durability of the battery. So the seamless nanotubes of Carbon grown from the sheet of Carbon will provide an integral surface for the batteries. By conservative estimates this can have the lives of batteries increased by multiple times. Their benefits?

The first of them is in getting the interruptions between meetings eliminated. That too with the prized and valuable client. This is we are talking about the long distance internet conference in your tablet. The charging period will comparatively increase but not so much as the other.  The battery life is something that is one of the first steps to supercomputers that will draw lot of energy and this battery alone can fulfil some part of it. Rather than having a long rack of batteries for servers this can do it is combination of two or three batteries. Since all the growth of surface is in micro measurements the battery size also diminishes and space for it reduced substantially.

The batteries will not only serve the digital electronics as we know it but some other devices where the requirement is smaller and the drain intensity is also not that high. If they are used in combination then there are more possibilities with higher intensity. Getting batteries or power sources that support working continuously for infinite time is a real advantage to reap benefits. As world is more digitized and more electronics devices enter our lives it is natural that a heavy duty power source for them can give lot of good results.

Green initiative is another benefit this is going to give us. The cumbersome manufacturing processes are the only part to spoil any environment and there is enough time for the researchers to find a decent means of easy, cheap industrial process for commercial development of this battery. There will be time enough to hope that they will be cleaner by then to give us ultimate satisfaction.

The sinking feeling of the content

In the last blog this was stressed upon that there is large scale compromise of the content in internet. Some of the reasons and situations were also discussed but something r other was left out. This is the week to settle those issues in discussion. More devilish is the person who is intelligent enough to understand a wrong but still chooses to continue doing it with the approximate assumption that it is not harmful. To whom is it not harmful? To the earnest visitor who is desperate for some information or to the website owner who relied with trust. The question has not even included the technical aspects like junks that will fill up cyberspace or the child who is search with specific keywords and again with smart SEO is obliged to go through this junk and considers internet to be full of these only, that loss of trust? The intelligent content developer is the person to blame. This piece is discussing some of their modus operandi.

We have done this sometimes and so known some of the damages we created. Why the intelligent content writer? It is not hard to identify a poorly written content and even the hallowed robots can do that with some effort. It is hard to distinguish the quality or lack of it when written by a smart person. The information is so obliterated with linguistic confusion that many will not even remember what they were searching in the first place. Will they benefit? Only if the content tries to provide something other than confusion. Why would a smart person compromise the quality and beauty of content?

Easy, quick money. That is the main source of this online compromise. Many writers can earn decent but given a high typing speed and ability to write on will enable them to earn much more. Hourly rates vary for blogs or articles, and from a few dollars it can go to hundreds. A person who is smart naturally will write only these senseless contents that are bracketed in the lower middle range of remuneration. The money is mostly given for quick turnaround time and placing of selected phrases, in the parlance of search engine they are keywords. Some of them will not even fit any sentence however hard one may try.

A person writing these contents will not need to think, improvise, need not mind the language, not mind the subject matter just will have to press whatever comes to mind. So they can deliver a lot in the same time frame of one article and earn lot more than they are suppose to, writing as decent blog or article. Why should they bother? There are plenty of content firms doing roaring business delivering such articles to many who need them but are the poor site owners in the loop? I doubt very strongly.

A site is built with sweat and dream of a person or a group of persons. Will they want that to be so abused? When after the recent SEO guidelines of Google the contents are more into focus and more scrutiny is done on their quality and material. Once the robots (yes the hallowed ones) get a sense of the useless, rudderless contents being used naturally they will doubt the authenticity f the site and if similar procedures are repeated the site can even be blacklisted. Who will lose the sweat and dreams? The content firm writing those contents or the person using them to promote the site or the innocent, uninitiated site owner? Easy answer, hard consequences.

How can this be changed? Is this a thing to change or is it here for permanency? What is the best way to get out of it? We propose, do not search cheap, there are some people who will provide cheap considering relative values of currencies but they do not last. Do not appoint someone new without personally supervising their end products. Monitor every activity of the new recruit for initial days where interest of the site owner is concerned. Always look for people with fresh ideas that are not rephrased from others but thought out, t the expense of time. Search engines on their part are already into it. They are very seriously into stopping litter on the net. Be wary of them, once blacklisted it can spoil many other plans. Be on the vigil, not for contents of interest but for the overall standard of it on internet.

Content Ark: Rescue the content

Rescue the content

A bit unusual it is. Why would someone need to rescue the content? Content Ark is the savior? Who will do the needful and in what circumstances the rescue act will be necessary? What why when……? These are the questions that will come to mind on seeing my article, well rather beginning of it. If you follow me to the end of the article definitely I will explain that today content needs rescue act to survive. And to get that many people will have to stop compromising.

Why is the content in danger? First, we discuss the attack on quality. There are plenty of content providers today. Why so many content writers? What do they know of a content and difference between the various requirements? Why should we stick and insist on quality in content? There are many answers. Some of whom are selected for discussion.

Today any person whose mother tongue is English, think it is birth right to write contents for online developments. Some examples-the writer didn't know the difference between ‘peace of mind’ and ‘piece of mind’ to interchange them. Imagine the poor website owner who had to deal with it after discovering that there are many viewers to the site (thanks to inspired SEO) who never contemplated business. Any language needs discipline and practice to improve and earn expert knowledge, without it the result is mostly hilarious to the unconcerned and damaging to the concerned. The training part is more important in online writing.

There are many aspects of any writing for the net. Some are intended to sell, the sole purpose of those contents is to attract customers and entice them to the product or service provided by any website. This and other writings like SEO writing, technical writing, blogs, informative articles and other writings all have their different demands and expertise. In such cases if a person who can barely frame a sentence think it is justified to work on all these specialized segments naturally they will do justice to none, not even to himself or herself.

How and why these poor quality writings survive? Because they have customers. There are many ways this work. There are site owners who are short in finance and so ask for cheap content providers for their online requirement. They in most cases are caught by cheap content firms who assure quality or they go for it themselves. In some other cases many of the site owners fall into traps of firms which assure good content and then outsource the assignment to places where the dollar is a high currency. The job is done in one or two dollars. Naturally the end result is shoddy, lack comprehension and overall poor in quality. How can this be avoided?

Never rely on boundaries. Always go for samples and definite time frames of delivery. Ensure the price is negotiated before hand and then go for the writer. Many Asian writers write beautiful copies and some first language countries also provide horrible writers. So it is better to know what is given. If not done, chances are that quality content will be the domain of select few only. Today some of the good and established writers also work on this line. More about them in next issue.
